Water and Garbage FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions about Water and Garbage Service in Sauk Village.

Where is the Sauk Village Village Hall and what are the office hours?
Our Municipal Center is located at 21801 Torrence Ave. The building is located on the east side of Torrence Ave, about 1/4 mile north of Sauk Trail, just south of the Police Station.. Parking is available around the building. Our office hours are from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday-Friday.

How do I sign up to receive water, sewer and refuse service?
Whether you are a homeowner, or commercial customer you may call our office between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, and a representative will establish your account in a very quick and easy telephone conversation.  If a deposit is required we will bill your new account.  Please call us a minimum of one working day in advance of the time you need service with the following information:

  • Name and spouse’s name, if applicable
  • Address where service is requested
  • Mailing address
  • Move in date
  • Telephone number
  • Driver License or State Issued ID number  
An administrative fee of $100 plus tax will be assessed to establish a utility account. 

How am I billed for garbage service and who is the provider? 
A private company provides scavenger service. The billing for this service is done by the Village and is on the water bill. It is unlawful for anyone other than a licensed scavenger to haul or transport garbage. Call Republic Services at (708) 385-8252 for more information regarding pickup dates. 

How can I add additional garbage service or have my questions answered about  garbage service? 
Simply call the Republic Services at (708) 385-8252

and a representative will gladly assist you to establish additional service and answer your questions.

Toter Can Information
Each residence is given one tote can.  Extra tote cans can be rented thru Republic for a monthly fee.  Please call Republic Services at 708-385-8252 for more details.
Residents are asked not to put their names on the toters but are allowed to put their addresses on them.
The toter should be set out by the curb with the handles facing the street.

How do I close my account if I am leaving Sauk Village?
There are two ways in which you may close your account. 

  • You must come in to the Municipal Center and cancel your account in person.

You will need to provide the date you would like your account closed and the mailing address for your final bill or refund. Your request must be made in person or by phone a minimum of one working day in advance.  We do not provide services on holidays or weekends.

Republic Services are closed on the following holidays:

New Years Day
Memorial Day
Fourth of July
Labor Day
Thankgiving
Christmas Day
